Building MemoryKeeper
Review before removal.
Photo cleanup sounds simple until the product is allowed to delete something irreplaceable. MemoryKeeper is being built around explainability, recoverability, and visible value before pressure.
THE THESIS
MemoryKeeper starts from an asymmetry: saving a few gigabytes is useful; deleting the wrong memory can be permanent.
THE HARD PART
Cleanup software operates close to irreversible decisions.
Duplicates, near-duplicates, bursts, screenshots, and other clutter can consume significant storage, but similarity is not the same as disposability. The product has to help the user move quickly without pretending an algorithm can know which photograph matters emotionally.
THREE PRODUCT DECISIONS
The architecture follows the distinction you refuse to erase.
Explain the group before asking for action.
A cleanup recommendation should make it clear why items were grouped, what appears safest to keep, and what the user is actually reviewing.
Make one confident win visible early.
The first session should find a safe opportunity, let the user review it, complete the action deliberately, and show the storage reclaimed before monetization pressure becomes the center of the experience.
Keep intelligence separate from deletion authority.
On-device analysis can prioritize and explain. The final destructive decision remains with the user, with recoverability and review designed into the flow wherever the platform permits it.
THE SYSTEM SHAPE
Trust is part of the storage-recovery algorithm.
A cleanup system that finds more candidates but makes the user afraid to approve them is not actually more useful. MemoryKeeper therefore treats understanding, prioritization, review, and reclaim as separate stages with different authority.

THE BOUNDARY
Similarity is evidence, not permission.
MemoryKeeper does not need to claim perfect duplicate detection, arbitrary third-party cache clearing, or automatic deletion to be useful. The stronger product promise is that recommendations are explainable and the user remains the authority over what leaves the library.
WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO EARN
The product should make cleanup feel calmer as it gets smarter.
If the intelligence is doing its job, the user spends less time hunting for clutter and more time making a small number of understandable decisions. The technology earns trust by reducing uncertainty, not by hiding it.
