TrailFu
Know the dirt.
A mountain bike destination and riding OS connecting trails, routes, conditions, offline discovery, local knowledge, Bike Parks, and the world around the ride.
Understand the ride, not just the line on the map.
THE PROMISE
Understand the ride, not just the line on the map.
TrailFu is being built as a mountain bike destination and riding OS connecting trails, routes, conditions, offline discovery, local knowledge, Bike Parks, stays, and the world around the ride.
WHY IT EXISTS
A trail database is not the same thing as knowing where to ride.
Good riding decisions depend on destination context, terrain, changing conditions, trail authority, route shape, local knowledge, and what the rider needs that day. TrailFu is designed around that larger picture.
THE EXPERIENCE
A clear path through a deeper system.
Choose the place
Start with destinations and the riding world around them.
Read the dirt
Bring authority, freshness, conditions, and predictive rideability into context.
Build the ride
Connect trails, routes, offline context, and local knowledge around the rider’s actual day.
TRAILFU · MOUNTAIN BIKE DESTINATION & RIDING OS
A trail map is where TrailFu starts, not where it ends.
TrailFu is designed around the whole riding decision: where to go, what the dirt is doing, how trails connect into a day, what local riders know, what survives offline, and what exists around the ride when you get there.
MTB SOFTWARE · SINCE 2009
The trail problem has been with us for a while.
In September 2009, Total Square released Mountain Bike Trails for iPhone, one of the earliest dedicated mountain-bike trail apps on the App Store. It put thousands of MTB-specific trails and trailhead directions into a rider's pocket when that still felt new.

Mountain Bike Trails
Released for iPhone by Total Square on September 22, with a directory of more than 5,000 MTB-specific trails.
- 2010
Total Square × IMBA
Total Square partnered with the International Mountain Bicycling Association to offer Mountain Bike Trails free during Interbike week.
- 2026
TrailFu
The question returns at a much larger scale: not just where the trail is, but whether it is the right ride, what the dirt is doing, what survives offline, and what exists around the destination.
RumblePoint describes Mountain Bike Trails as one of the earliest dedicated MTB trail apps. We do not make an unqualified 'first ever' claim without stronger historical evidence.
FROM WORLD TO RIDE
Five layers between “somewhere to ride” and a good day on dirt.
- 01
See the world
Start with riding destinations and trail systems instead of an undifferentiated carpet of pins.
- 02
Read the dirt
Bring official status, environmental evidence, freshness, and rideability context into the decision.
- 03
Build the day
Turn individual trails into routes, loops, alternates, and a plan that makes sense for the rider.
- 04
Carry it offline
Keep maps, discovery, and destination context useful when the trailhead has no signal.
- 05
Know the place
Connect Bike Parks, local knowledge, providers, stays, and events without letting paid placement rewrite organic relevance.
THE RIDING WORLD
Zoom out to choose the place. Zoom in until the ride makes sense.
TrailFu treats the world, destination, trail system, trail, route, and local ecosystem as connected layers. The map is the canvas, not the entire product.
Destinations
Understand where the riding is and why a place matters.
Trail networks
See trails in the context of the network they belong to.
Routes
Connect trail segments into an intentional riding day.
Local gravity
Bring the useful world around the trail into view.
DIRTCAST · RIDEABILITY
Conditions are a changing truth, not a green dot.
TrailFu is designed to distinguish authoritative status from predictive rideability. Official closures and land-manager guidance remain authoritative; environmental evidence can help estimate when dirt is likely to ride well without pretending to overrule the people responsible for the trail.
ROUTE INTELLIGENCE
A ride is more than the sum of its trail segments.
TrailFu is built to assemble trails, alternates, features, difficulty, distance, elevation, and rider intent into a coherent ride rather than making the rider do all of that synthesis mentally from a map.
OFFLINE BY DESIGN
The trailhead should not be a network test.
Downloaded destination packs are designed to keep the riding world searchable and useful without a connection, including the discovery objects that matter before and during a ride.
- ✓Map ready
- ✓Discovery ready
- ✓Route context
- ✓Freshness visible
LOCAL GRAVITY
Great riding has an ecosystem around it.
TrailFu is designed to connect the trail to the place around it: trusted local knowledge, Bike Parks, events, service providers, and MTB-relevant places to stay. Organic riding recommendations remain separate from clearly labeled paid placement.
The detail a generic map misses
Place-specific context can explain the line, season, etiquette, access, or decision that changes the ride.
First-class riding destinations
Lift-served and managed riding belongs in the same destination world rather than living in a separate product universe.
Sleep close to the dirt
MTB-relevant lodging can be discovered around the trip while paid visibility stays conspicuously separate from organic ranking.
The people and moments around the ride
Shops, guides, shuttles, races, and other useful local context can live alongside the destination.
TRUTH BEFORE CONFIDENCE
TrailFu should tell you what it knows, what it predicts, and who has authority.
Trail information changes. TrailFu is designed to preserve freshness and source context, keep official authority distinct from prediction, and separate organic relevance from sponsored placement instead of blending them into one mysterious ranking.
- 01Official trail authority stays authoritative
- 02Prediction is labeled as prediction
- 03Freshness belongs in the decision
- 04Sponsored placement contributes zero weight to organic ranking
GO DEEPER
The product has a model of the problem underneath it.
Each capability is a public glimpse of the model beneath the interface: enough to explain what the product understands without exposing private implementation detail.
Destination OS
Move between the world, destination, trail system, and local ecosystem without losing context.
DirtCast
Use environmental evidence to estimate rideability while keeping official closure authority distinct.
Offline discovery
Keep the downloaded riding world searchable when the trailhead has no signal.
Local gravity
Connect local knowledge, Bike Parks, providers, events, and MTB-relevant stays around the ride.
RIDING INTELLIGENCE
The map is only one layer.
TrailFu connects geography, destination context, conditions, routes, offline discovery, and local evidence so the rider can make a better decision than a basemap full of pins can provide.
TRUTH
Authority, prediction, freshness, and sponsorship should not blur together.
Official trail authority remains authoritative, predictive rideability is labeled as prediction, freshness stays visible, and paid placement contributes zero weight to organic riding recommendations.
